Talk Show - Hyperstition

Put bluntly: Talk Show has got a lot going on. I mean this, of course, in the most positive way possible. There’s a very clear love for all things goth and noise music with a special affinity for making things squeal. At times this means channeling Godflesh via Nine Inch Nails-sized hooks, courtesy of tracks like ‘Variable Infinity’; other times it means simply doing their very best Prurient impression (‘Frozen Palisades’).

However while the influences may always be clear, Talk Show is never derivative. Throughout Hyperstition’s roughly 30-minute runtime the band ducks and weaves effortlessly between all things power electronics and death industrial, occasionally making pit stops in the ethereal realm of black metal giants like Leviathan and Blut Aus Nord. Add a healthy heap of industrial’s more soundtrack-prone poster children (once again, NiN riffs) and you end up with the comforting sounds of California’s own Talk Show.
